Oh, Say Can You Sing?

The Stockton Symphony organized a contest with the winners to perform the National Anthem onstage with the Stockton Symphony at the opening concert of the 2013-14 season, September 21 and 22, 2013!

Applicants were students, high school age or younger, and prepared to sing the anthem in either Ab or Bb major. Auditions were open to the first 50 applicants. Auditions were held on Saturday, September 14 at University of the Pacific’s Recital Hall. Thank you to our finalists who sang their hearts out while accompanied by none other than our music director and conductor, Peter Jaffe: 2013-09-14 11.46.15

Our two winners, Kade Henry and Ayanna Navarro, gave wonderful performances at our
Autumn Pops: Celtic Soul concert. The audience loved them (and we did, too)!

Here are a couple pictures of them in action:

Here is a follow up to our Oh, Say Can You Sing story: Ayanna Navarro returned to our concert stage for a surprise performance of Little Drummer Boy at the Holiday Pops concert on December 14 and 15. She sang the first verse in Spanish and the second verse in English! Great job, Ayanna!
